After all that time being cooped up at home (the couple of years that we don’t talk about right now), staying in for a date night does not sound as fun as going out and having a date night on the town. I promise to share some great date-at-home nights for those nights where you cannot find a sitter, or you simply just want to put the kids to bed and hang around the house instead! Dating your spouse is very important. No matter how many years you’ve been married, spending quality time with your spouse helps connect the two of you. Dating each other helps to constantly learn about each other. Even if you have children running around, it is even more important to set aside one time a month to “date” your spouse.
Below, I have quite a few ideas that can be used even if you cannot find a babysitter for your date night. I hope these ideas help bring some new ways to continue to connect, grow and date your spouse.

- Cook a simple and easy breakfast – take turns making breakfast and enjoy it in bed (or in the living room if you hate the thought of crumbs getting in your bed!
- Grab some couple’s questionnaire cards. Just do a few after you put the kiddos to bed!
- Learn to cook a new recipe
- Go camping in your backyard – you have to cook some smores too!
- Play some card games or a few of your favorite board games.
- Create a new cocktail for just the two for you to enjoy on your at-home dates
- Go on a walk when the sun is setting – make sure to hold hands for at least half of the walk
- Watch a movie and pick up snacks for your spouse and your spouse picks up your snacks
- Go camping in your living room – set the whole thing up, you will be so happy you did!
- Have a hot tub night – and if you do not have a hot tub – enjoy a bubble bath together
- Give each other massages
- Go to the Farmer’s Market just the two of you
- If your hometown is near, grab some coffee and take turns showing your spouse around your favorite places while you were growing up
- Paint together – create a canvas for each other
- Do a brain dump of your visions for your marriage in the next year, 5 years, 10 years
- Beer or Wine tasting night. Each spouse grabs a couple different drinks and have a taste-testing night
- Picnic – of course, this has to be on the list
- Ride your bikes around town – or for us, it’s a ride on the four-wheeler around our land
- Create a Spotify music list together
- Sit down and do a puzzle together
- Enjoy stargazing
- Pick a new movie to watch together
- Write a simple little letter for each other and take turns reading them
- Reread your vows to each other
- Dream about your next vacation together
